This presentation is a business proposal to set up and operate the world's first retail network of smart mini vending machine pharmacies.
The first annual start-up cost of the investment is 750.000€, which will generate 10.000.000€ in revenues and 2.500.000€ in profits for the system operator (2021 figure based on hungarian OTC market data).
Within the Arco Verde project company, our enthusiastic team of developers have been working for many years on designing and producing "intelligent" online vending machines to distribute limited access and high-value products. These projects have resulted in an intellectual and physical (HW and SW) product - internationally patent pending (PCT) - that allows for creating, operating, and optimizing a retail network of IoT-inspired Pharmaceutical, OTC, RX, and Dietary Supplement vending machines, centrally and individually, with high security, in compliance with EU pharmaceutical distribution directives.

Operator benefits and new features

The machines work 24 hours daily, day and night, with no lunch breaks or sick days. They only move if the owner moves them to another location.
You do not have to pay wages and contributions. As the vending machine can be capitalized as a fixed asset, the operator can deduct all the expenditure incurred in a lease agreement from its operating profit.
You can monitor transactions in real time and, if necessary, allow immediate intervention in the operations by the head office.
You can program specific actions per machine in advance: e.g., reduce prices and introduce sales promotions. Even "on-call or night" pricing can be submitted.
The vending machine can be used for pilot testing before the launch of new products at no extra cost.
As a secondary benefit, it will give a valuable competitive advantage in the domestic pharmaceutical market to have a live customer database of more than 100.000 people with consumer habits based on 3.650.000 transactions/year (estimated on hungarian market).
The SOS Pharmatic® application allows you to connect with social media platforms (TikTok, Facebook, Instagram), thus enabling more effective communication with the target group. In addition, the system supports the creation of loyalty clubs and targeted DM promotions.

Each machine can be managed as a separate unit. The operator can immediately see which products are the best sellers in which city or public area, which ones are failing or less popular, and how much profit is generated per machine and asper product groups.
Unique cods for example EAN or SARZS numbers can be used to manage medicines, even blocking their sale after expiry.
Procurement, stocking, and inventory processes can be optimized with up-to-date sales information. The vending machines must receive only specific and authorized assortments. At the central warehouse, these assortments are preprepared to be delivered and loaded into the machines. Hence the restocking process takes less than 15 minutes (which means returning and reloading 500 products).
There is no chance of a wrong product distribution! This is a legal requirement for selling pharmaceutical products! The machines can identify what products they received, and in case of incorrect filling, the vending machine will alert the control center and indicate that the inventory is wrong.

The product path can be traced from the manufacturer's premises to the customer, box by box. For registered customers, we know who, where, and when they purchased the product. Misuse and theft are prevented.
The entire inventory of the vending machines can be adjusted from one day to the other. The seasonality of medicine consumption is monitored. Also, other products from different markets can be instantly adapted within 24 hours in the system!
After an approval protocol, the vending machines can sell different products. For instance, the machines were selling pharmaceuticals on Monday, but on Tuesday, they started selling other products such as women's cosmetics or tobacco. This is all due to the fact that the machines can automatically recognize what sort of product they have received.

Revenue, profit, return on investment

With annual profits of 2.500.000€ and a turnover of 10.000.000€, the operator will gain a new market and thus new customers for OTC and dietary supplements (at 250 machines in hungarian market).
The project starts "small" with the pilot and can then be scaled up, significantly reducing risk. Beginning with 50 machines, it already generates positive cash flow, which means around 500.000€ per year. The moderate calculations are based on average hourly sales of 3 boxes per machine, 72 pcs X 5€/24h. A pharmacy with a medium turnover has a daily transaction rate of 200-300 pcs/8h.
In addition to significant cost savings for petrol stations or pharmacies (human resources vs. leasing), it also results in additional traffic and coverage expansion and growth with a relatively "modest" initial investment of 500.000€ (for a 50pcs pilot).
In recent years, the turnover of dietary supplements and OTC products (300 billion HUF/year), which are currently not yet marketed through this approach in Hungary, has increased rapidly. Based on the concept we have developed, there is no similar system in Europe.
The petrol station/pharmacy network that acts sooner and takes advantage of this opportunity will gain a significant competitive advantage in the Hungarian and EU OTC markets for years to come.
This is the only profitable solution for the supply of medicines in small settlements, which can be implemented with state support and even with 0% self-financing!
